Acapulco, Mexico
Acapulco, Mexico
With its stunning sun-kissed beaches, Acapulco was once dubbed the Pearl of the Pacific. Today, the golden arc of sand surrounding Bahia de Acapulco remains as gorgeous as ever, full of lovely spots to relax and soak up the sunshine. If you'd like to take in a little history too, you can venture up to the city's 17th-century fort, perched on a hill overlooking the harbour. It's Acapulco's most significant historical landmark and the most important marine fortress in the Pacific Ocean.

Guatemala must be the most colourful country in Central America and remains relatively undeveloped. Discover Lake Atitlan - huge, clear, and beautifully framed by three volcanoes - where Maya traditions are at their ancient best. One of the civilisation's most important sites, its ruined citadel and imposing public squares reveal how the city grew and thrived before being abandoned in the 10th century. While we're in port, there's also a great opportunity to trek up the smoking volcano of Pacaya.

Founded in 1524, Granada is the oldest city in the New World, renowned for some of the finest colonial-era architecture in the country. Nicaragua is known as the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes, and you can take in one of its active peaks at the Masaya Volcano National Park.
Day 8 - Saturday - Mar 5, 2016
Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Puntarenas, Costa Rica Arrive: 8:30 am
Lazing at the end of a sandy peninsula, Puntarenas has an old-world charm and is the closest coastal town to Costa Rica's capital, San Jose. If you can tear yourself away, you'll find the capital is a bustling city, full of streets lined with eclectic, historic architecture. Alternatively, head into the wild at Carara National Park, the last major area of primary rainforest in the region, home to white-face capuchin monkeys and scarlet macaws. Or, visit one of Costa Rica's many coffee fields and discover the huge role coffee has played in the development of the country. We'll be staying in port overnight to give you plenty of time to explore.

Beautiful, isolated Isla Coiba was home to a much-feared prison from 1919 right up to 2004. Access was restricted, and as a result, 80% of the island's natural resources have survived untouched. Due to its remote location, the island has a growing number of sub-species, unique to its shores. Its jungles are home to howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, and crested eagles, while its beaches and waters offer shelter to four turtle species.

San Blas Islands, Panama

Cartagena, Colombia
Cartagena, Colombia Arrive: 9:00 am

Once you've wandered the city, there's the opportunity to try something completely different - trek up to the crater of the 15-metre high Totumo mud volcano and finish your cruise with a messily revitalising mud bath.
