Zip across lush canopies overlooking Belize's rainforest at a zipline facility, experience the Belize Zoo and its wildlife inhabitants, and more on this eco-friendly adventure in Belize. Enjoy a delicious Belizean lunch to complete the day that will have you discovering the history of the city and its attractions, making this tour perfect for foodies and thrill-seeking history buffs alike!
Your adventure starts as you are greeted by your local, expert tour guide at the port for a scenic drive into Belize City. Take a few minutes to marvel at the colonial architecture and city highlights, you then pass small farms and charming Creole villages as you make your way to the zip line facility.
Upon arrival, your guide will lead you to the area near the starter zip line platform, be expertly fitted with a harness, safety helmet, and gloves. After a brief instruction and safety demonstration, you will be guided to the first zip line platform for a major adrenaline rush as you zoom through the trees on 4 to 5 zip lines. The tallest platform is approximately 100 feet high and the longest line is approximately 1000 feet long.
Climb the stairs to the first platform and begin traversing the lush canopy from one platform to another as you learn about the ecosystem that surrounds you. Once you have experienced the rainforest from the air, you can take a hike to the bank of the nearby Caves Branch River to peek at the beautiful scenery. Your guide is happy to explain plants and animals that are native to the area that you will pass or may encounter.
After the amazing zip line adventure, you will next make your way to the Belize Zoo for an incredible adventure meeting the animals. Get up close and personal with the zoo animals as you step into the lush 84-acre tropical savanna and discover its unique history. Founded in 1983 to house animals used in documentary films, this national zoo is a popular Belize excursion and has over 150 animals - many of them orphaned, rescued, rehabilitated, or received by other zoological institutions. The clean, spacious habitat enclosures allow the animals to live close to their natural environment while allowing you an up-close view of them. Watch spider monkeys at play, note the graceful walk of the deer and compare 2 different types of crocodiles and several species of native cats who call this zoo home. Hike along and see the wild pigs, the national animal of Belize, and a variety of other exotic animals.
After the zoo experience, you will continue to a local restaurant near the port for a delicious, homemade lunch of typical Belizean food that includes stewed chicken, rice, beans, and fried plantain. After your lunch, you will board your transportation for a quick return to the port area and your ship.
From zooming across a lush rainforest and seeing Belize's beauty from high above to experiencing a wildlife encounter at the Belize Zoo, this tour offers much for the thrill-seeker to do and see. Sign up for this exciting eco-adventure today and get ready to have a memorable time in Belize City!
