Caribbean Princess Cruise Review - Day 6
Thursday - March 14th
No knocking arrived to our door this morning, giving us the much-needed break to sleep in after two jam-packed days on two different Caribbean islands. Knowing that we'd be at sea for two days and starting to feel slightly home sick, we decided to keep our schedule fairly free for the last two days of the trip to soak up some more sun and enjoy the last bit of our vacation.
Looking over our itinerary and only selecting a few potential activities, we put ourselves together and headed over to Planks BBQ to grab breakfast at the buffet. Next on the agenda would be a prearranged video interview with the Cruise Director Matt for us to answer questions regarding our experience with our Princess Medallions. As we ate, we discussed what we'd like to talk about during the interview, before we took the final bites of our food and placed our napkins atop our plates.
Following our interview, our stomachs grumbled again. Whether it was the nerves of being on camera, or our bodies just getting accustomed to constantly snacking on the ship, we decided to see what Planks BBQ offered at their lunch buffet.
(L) Princess Medallions, (R) Calypso Pool (c)Princess CruisesAssembling a bowl of ramen, topping it off with sriracha, and grabbing a plate of chips with guacamole and sour cream, I brought my plate back to the window-side table and enjoyed watching the motion of the waves as we journeyed home.
While we primarily enjoyed the time we spent at Neptune's Pool and the Calypso Pool on the ship's Lido deck, excited children dribbling ice cream into the hot tub was unavoidable. And while the kids we'd met onboard could crack a wicked joke, we really just wanted some relaxation, free of noise and without the fear of sitting in a pool of sugar. We had yet to try out the adult-only pool within the Sanctuary toward the top of the ship, so we decided to check it out.
I had fun dipping into the pool as the ship moved through the waves of the ocean (it was a fairly rocky day), creating almost a wave pool as the pool water came crashing back and forth. At first it didn't register with me that the waves in the pool weren't intentional and soon the ship's staff had to close down the pool. But the hot tubs in the Sanctuary remained open, so we enjoyed relaxing for quite some time in the jacuzzi and getting to know some of our fellow cruise passengers.
Our dinner reservation was set for early in the night at 5:15 to avoid the formally dressed crowd, so after spending some time at the jacuzzi, we headed back to the room to shower up, catch up with family over the phone, and read on the balcony on this cool, breezy day before it was time to head to Sabatini's.
Once we arrived to the Italian trattoria, we were sat by the window, where we dined on a four course meal, watched the waves as the sky went from light to dark, and bonded over all of the fun we had on this trip, although one more day awaited us at sea to revel in our tropical vacation. From bright red risotto colored by a beet puree to fried basil leaves to a sampler of every dessert on the menu, we felt truly spoiled with widened eyes as we took bites from our food.
Sabatini's Italian Trattoria (c)Princess CruisesAfter our bellies expanded exponentially by the amount of food we stuffed into them, we decided to head back to our room and relax for a bit before heading over to the Marriage Game Show at the Explorers Lounge, where 3 different couples, varying in age, were put to the test of answering some fairly raunchy questions about their relationship. Each individual would put on noise-blocking headphones and listen to tunes while the other spilled the juicy details to the crowd, only for the other to have to answer the same questions, hopefully recalling the same memory.
Once the show was over, we headed back to our room to watch some more spooky episodes of the Haunting of Hill House on Netflix into the late hours of the night.
