Caribbean Princess Cruise Review - Day 4
Tuesday - March 12th
This day's destination was St. Thomas and we weren't to arrive until 12:30. Since we had a late night of streaming the Haunting of Hill House and didn't need to leave the ship until the afternoon, we decided to skip the order of room service for the morning and allow ourselves to sleep in until we naturally woke up.
After a nice, relaxing morning with no agenda filled with deep sleep, pampering, and hashbrowns at Planks BBQ, we headed down to the Island Dining Room to get off the ship and meet our first excursion of the trip (which we booked ahead of time through iCruise).
Making our way to the bus for Sunny Liston Tours, we met Dennis the Chemist (our tour guide), who offered us some bottles of water and took us to a flea market just outside of the city for some shopping. From soaking up the sun in the Princess Cays and enjoying the pools aboard the ship, my scalp had gotten fairly burned so I grabbed a safari-style hat from the flea market to shield me from the sunny rays, and Megan haggled for a great deal on a black leather fanny pack to keep her money safe as we journeyed through the islands. Walking into the city, we also found a collection of prints painted by local artists and decided to each pick one up that we could hang back home to remember our trip.
Once we spent our fair share of money for the day, we boarded back onto the bus and ascended up the mountain to get beautiful views and pictures of St. Thomas, and make our way to the top of the mountain behind the World Famous Banana Daiquiri shop. The view from the top of the mountain was gorgeous as we looked out onto the beautiful bright blue waters of Magens Bay Beach and the island's mangroves and coconut groves.
After making some more scenic stops to soak in the beauty of this Caribbean paradise and snap some more pictures, we headed to Magens Bay Beach, which charged a small $5 fee per person to enter. And that fee was worth the expense - the water was peaceful and relaxing to float around in and just enjoy the day without worry. After spending some time in the water and getting a new perspective of the island vs. when we were at the top of the mountain, our bellies grumbled and we headed over to a local quick service restaurant on the beach. Megan grabbed a gyro while I grabbed a couple slices of pizza, and we just basked in the glory of the beach while we snacked on some lunch.
Not long after, we climbed back onto the bus and headed back to the port. There was still time to explore the island but since we weren't too familiar with the area and were running out of cash for the day, we decided to go back on the ship and enjoy a cup of tea.
Following our afternoon tea time, Megan decided to go back to the room to contact her family and catch them up to our adventures, while I decided to do some of my own exploring of the ship.
As I wandered around, I caught a glimpse of three parrots in the Piazza, saying “hello”, balancing on their heads, and swinging upside down. This odd and random but adorable sight truly showed the range of entertainment available on the ship.
The parrots and macaws were on my way to see my first production aboard the Caribbean Princess - Born to be Wild, a jukebox style musical featuring a variety of famous tunes backed with dancers and singers riding along the “highway” aboard their pink vintage convertible. Once being in my high school drama club and singing my heart out at acting camp every summer growing up, I felt happy and nostalgic watching this upbeat performance.

As the show came to an end, I made my way out of the Princess Theater and on my way to pick up dinner at the World Fresh Marketplace before the evening's movie under the stars began - The Old Man & the Gun. After devouring my pasta, I grabbed a plate of pecan pie and brought it out to the deck where I looked for a seat for the movie.
As the movie started, so did the ship as we took off for our next destination. The combination of the cool breeze, the night sky, and a full belly left me drifting off to sleep during the film, so once the movie was over I headed back to the room for a good night's rest.
