Majesty of the Seas Review - Day 4
Tuesday - June 18th
Waking up early this morning, already docked up in Nassau, Bahamas, we stopped by the Windjammer first for breakfast where I had my usual English breakfast of eggs, sausages, beans, tomatoes and toast and Bryant had French toast with syrup.
Already packed up and ready to go to the Bahamas, we got off the ship and decided to stroll downtown. After walking around for about 15 minutes, we headed to the beach only to find it packed with tourists. This not exactly being how we like to relax, we decided to head back to the port to check out some of the excursions that we saw locals promoting. Opting out of the excursions as well due to their high prices, we decided to rent a scooter instead.
Having visited the Bahamas previously, we knew that if we walked to the very end of all the taxis, we'd find ATV/scooter rentals. For $80 with a $20 deposit, we rented a scooter for the rest of the day (well, until our required time to get back on the ship).
Riding the scooter along the coast for about 15 minutes, we found a remote beach with no tourists at Goodman's Bay. Now this is what we were looking for! A beach not packed with tourists and locals trying to make a profit. Its gorgeous white sand and crystal blue waters made for a relaxing hour at the beach.
For $2, we crossed the bridge to Paradise Islandsbbdqcatarxfextacfzxeszr where we grabbed lunch at Margaritaville. While we shared a huge serving of volcano nachos and sipped on mojitos, we took advantage of their WiFi and caught up with our families and of course took the time to post about our adventures on social media!
Not wanting to be late for the ship, we headed back to the port early to drop off the scooter. With some time left still in the Bahamas, we visited some local markets and shops in search of an art print to bring back home as a souvenir (something we do wherever we go). Finding a lovely little shop filled with gorgeous items, we stocked up on souvenirs and headed back to the ship.
Exhausted from our fun in the sun, we took a nap until it was time to head to the Schooner Bar for Michael Jackson trivia. Most of the questions were about Jackson 5 though, so we failed miserably.
With some time to kill before our usual 8 p.m. dinner, we decided to not only waste time but also waste money at the casino. An acquaintance we made onboard told us "Always bet on black, you'll always win." Taking her word for it, we bet on black. And well, she was wrong... We lost.
Our lovely dinner made up for it though! The salad, lamb and cherry dessert I ordered and Bryant's shellfish broth, chicken parmesan and tres leches were all delicious. As we enjoyed our meal, we conversed with our dinner mates, chatting about what we had done in the Bahamas that day. One couple went to Atlantis, which they loved despite its price and crowd. They mentioned the importance of buying a locker and putting everything in there though, as their hats were stolen. Another couple enjoyed the day scuba diving with the tropical fish.
After dinner, we decided to go to the theatre to watch Gary Caouette's comedy show. Not being a huge fan of stand up, I wasn't sure if I'd like it. However, I ended up having a great time and my fair share of laughs. The whole crowd was howling from start to finish.
By the time the show was over, it was past midnight and we had to be up early the next day for disembarking the ship back in Fort Lauderdale. After we packed our bags for leaving, we went to bed, ending the last night on our 4-night Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas cruise.
