What could possibly be better than being aboard a beautiful Disney ship on the vacation of a lifetime? Why, being on a beautiful Disney ship on the vacation of a lifetime during a special event at sea!
Disney Cruise Line has many different themed cruises throughout the year, all of which are equally alluring and intriguing for a first time cruiser, and for the Captain Mickey stalkers such as myself!
Whether it be Halloween on the High Seas, a Very Merrytime Cruise, or a Star Wars Day at Sea sailing, you can be guaranteed some extra special Disney magic is waiting behind every turn of the ship!
Halloween on the High Seas
When hinges creek in doorless chambers, when strange and frightening sounds, echo through the ship. Whenever fireworks flicker, when the air is deathly fresh. That is the time, when ghosts are cruising, practicing their terrors, with ghoulish delight, at sea!
You’ll never have a more “spooktacular” cruise than sailing on one of Disney Cruise Line’s Halloween themed cruises! Foolish mortals can take part in these cruises on any of Disney Ships between September 5th and October 31st.
Onboard, you’ll find special Halloween decorations, such as the grim grinning Pumpkin Tree and other dismaying observations! You can also take part in Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party, a ghoulishly delightful party in the atrium where you can play games, trick or treat, and dance the night away with your favorite Disney friends, all wearing their Halloween costumes! It would be a shame if you didn’t join them and dress up!
Guests of all ages can also enjoy various chilling, challenging Halloween activities such as pumpkin carving and mask making. At Haunted Stories of the Seas, you can tell some happy, haunting stories up on deck in a campfire like setting!
The Nightmare Before Christmas also makes its gruesome appearance on this cruise! Take part in the Sing and Scream and participate in an interactive movie experience like nothing else at sea!
For the adults, any volunteers can take part in a costume contest in the nightclub, followed by a party to end all parties.
And I’m out of Haunted Mansion references….
Very Merrytime Cruises
From November 6th to the end of the year, anyone, whether naughty or nice, can take part in Disney Cruise Line’s special Christmas event! Join Santa on the high seas for some extra merriment onboard any of Disney’s ships! Enjoy beautiful décor throughout the vessels and even meet the big man in red himself, and he’s brought the Missus!
On the first night of the cruise, enjoy a traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony in the ship’s atrium to kick the holiday cheer off right! Mickey and friends dressed in their Holiday attire will join in the fun as well, so make sure to get a picture.
One of the highlights is a visit from Queen Elsa of Arendelle (Frozen). Elsa and her royal sister Anna, join the ship to spread some holiday cheer, even making it snow in the atrium during a very special extravaganza held a couple times per cruise, even Santa himself wants to meet Elsa!
Too add to it all, see and smell the beautiful life size gingerbread house in the main lobby made completely from edible materials. You can smell it all around the ship! JUST DON’T EAT IT! They frown upon that… Not that I know.. Personally..
Don’t forget to take part in some classic Holiday Storytelling with some special sea related holiday stories. Bring some cookies! (But not from the gingerbread house!)
To top off the wintery wonder, the most wonderful time of the cruise would be the Deck the Deck Tropical Holiday Party. Play games and dance with your favorite Disney Characters. You can even do the limbo with a massive Candy Cane!
Castaway Cay even gets involved in the action! Upon debarking the ship onto the sandy paradise, you’ll be greeted with hot chocolate and cookies! The beaches are also decked out with all sorts of tropical ornaments. Keep an eye out for snowmen (and snowwomen!)
Star Wars Day at Sea
Feel the Force at sea and take part in one of eight Star Wars cruises! On all Western Caribbean 7 night sailings on the Disney Fantasy between January and April, the Galactic Empire has sent its forces to keep the ship in line! Of course, your favorite Star Wars heroes aren’t going to let that happen without lots of fun and games! (Did you expect me to say fight?)
The Star War Day is taking the place of the Pirate night during these 7 night sailings, but do not fret, it will be a most impressive event. You’ll have Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers, and other characters from our favorite galaxy far, far away roaming the ship and interacting with guests of all ages! Don’t forget your costume! Wouldn’t want to look like a nerf herder… (or maybe you do).
The Jedi Training Academy, the popular experience from Walt Disney World, will be making an appearance at sea during this day. Younglings of all Force-sensitivity can learn to wield a lightsaber and use the Force during this training session with a Jedi Master! I’m not sure if Lord Vader will be happy with this…. He might show up to test their skills and even try to convert them to the Dark Side! (He will).
Padawan learners and Jedi Masters alike can take part in Star Wars trivia throughout the day, and younglings can participate in games, arts and crafts, and special activities in their respective clubs.
Special Star Wars Celebrities will also make appearances during the cruise! Get some autographs and pictures and learn about their experiences.
To top off the day, all 7(!) movies will be played on the deck and in the ships theater. Talk about binge watching.
That’s not even mentioning the night time fun! Make sure to go to the Star Wars Deck Party and Fireworks. This amazing deck party will have some Star Wars themed games, dancing, and more. Let’s not forget the fireworks! That cruises’ celebrity guests and all our favorite Star Wars heroes and villains will all start the show that will lead to the symphony in the stars themed to John Williams’ classic Star Wars music. I’ve got a good feeling about this!
For the adults, The Tube (nightclub on the Fantasy) will be converted to the Mos Eisley Cantina. You’ll truly never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Dance the night away with your favorite Star Wars characters and enjoy the Star Wars Themed cocktails.
In addition to the cocktails, all the food that day will be Star Wars themed! It’ll be out of this world! Or Galaxy… I’m hoping for some Blue Milk and Darth Vader cupcakes! But I’d settle for some nerf steak and caf. I’m a nerd. See you there!
